Transfer creditMost online-learning students take courses at other institutions before, or while, working toward a degree or certificate at Michigan Tech. When you have completed a course at another institution, it is very important that you inform us, so we can ensure that your progress is being accurately recorded and your prerequisites are being met. When you have successfully completed a course from another institution, use the transcript release form to request your transcript sent to Michigan Tech. We will evaluate the course and notify you whether the transfer has been approved or not. Send the transcript release form to all of the institutions you have previously attended. Transfer credit is granted according to the guidelines established by academic departments. Generally, credit is granted for courses in which students have received a passing grade of C (2.00/4.00 scale), provided these courses--in content, length, and prerequisites--are equal to courses offered at Michigan Technological University. The grade point average that you earned at other institutions is neither transferable nor used in computing your grade point averege at Michigan Tech.
