What is this thing called Blackboard Learning System, and how can it help you? Your Michigan Tech email account: mtu.edu. Find out about your mtu.edu email account and how to use it. Purchasing textbooksYou may order your textbooks from the Michigan Tech Campus Store or from Total Information. Course guidebooks may be distributed to students in advance. In some cases, these may also be purchased from the Campus Store. Used textbooks are often available. Michigan Tech student resourcesThe Student Information System (SIS) allows you to check your academic records online. You can get your grades, transcripts, and apply for graduation. Check it out! (Click on Grades/Unofficial transcripts in the Academic Records box.) You may also want to peruse the Michigan Tech Student Handbook, the undergraduate catalog or the graduate bulletin. Transfer credit evaluationMost distance learning students take courses at other institutions before, or while, working toward a degree or certificate at Michigan Tech. When you have completed a course at another institution, It is very important that you inform us, so we can ensure that your progress is being accurately recorded and your prerequisites are being met. When you have successfully completed a course from another institution, use the transcript release form to request your transcript sent to EUP at Michigan Tech. Michigan Tech will evaluate the course and notify you when the transfer has been approved or not. Send the transcript release form to all of the institutions you have previously attended. Transfer credit is granted according to the guidelines established by academic departments. Generally, credit is granted for courses in which students have received a passing grade of CD (2.0) or higher, provided these courses--in content, length, and prerequisites--are equal to courses offered at Michigan Technological University. The grade point average that you earned at other institutions is neither transferable nor used in computing your grade point averege at Michigan Tech. Michigan Tech operates on the semester calendar and on the 4 point grading system with an A equaling 4.00 points per credit, AB equaling 3.50, B equaling 3.00, and so on. Audit credit. A grade of V indicates a satisfactory audit and a U is given for an unsatisfactory audit. No grade points or credit is given. Course grades are posted on the course Blackboard page as soon as they are available. If your course did not use Blackboard, you can go to the Student Information System (SIS) to check your transcript for the grade. University policiesAs a student at Michigan Tech, whether degree seeking or nondegree seeking, you are required to follow all Michigan Tech policies and procedures. |
